At Brandon Kane Photography (BKP), we’re more than just photographers – we’re storytellers and, more importantly, a family. Our journey started years ago, long before we were midwest wedding and engagement photographers. Our team is made up of myself, my husband Forest, and our lifelong friend Hannah. Together, we bring a blend of passion, creativity, and professionalism to every shoot, ensuring each couple feels comfortable, celebrated, and connected. Based in Bettendorf, Iowa, and serving the Quad Cities, Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and beyond, we specialize in wedding, engagement, and family photography. Whether it's a surprise proposal on a beach or a lavish wedding at the Black Hawk Hotel, we’re always ready to go the extra mile to capture your unique love story.
How It All Began: Brandon and Hannah, The Pleasant Valley Choir Nerds
Hannah and I have been inseparable since our high school days at Pleasant Valley High School, where we first bonded over our love for choir and art. We were true choir nerds, always hyping each other up during rehearsals and performances. But it wasn’t just our love for music that brought us together—we also shared a deep passion for art and design. We had the same art class period with Mrs. Peters, and that’s where our shared obsession with photography, wedding design, and florals really began. We spent countless hours diving deep into conversations about photography styles and wedding trends, even though we had no idea at the time where it would take us.
We were fortunate enough to grow even closer during our high school choir trip to New York City, which, to this day, remains one of our favorite shared experiences. NYC was such a dream for two small-town kids, and we spent hours talking about all the creative possibilities that lay ahead for us. After graduation, our paths diverged but remained interconnected. I headed off to Turners Falls, Massachusetts, where I pursued my passion for professional photography at Hallmark Institute of Photography. Hannah, always the social butterfly, went to the University of Iowa to study Mass Communications and Journalism—fitting, since she can strike up a conversation with anyone!
Now, you’re probably wondering, how does Forest fit into this story? Well, that’s where things get even better!
Enter Forest: The Calm to My Crazy
Hannah is not only an incredible friend, but she’s also a fantastic matchmaker. While she was at the University of Iowa, she met Forest in Iowa City, and knowing we would hit it off, she introduced us while I was home during a holiday break. She was right (thanks, Hannah!). Forest and I clicked instantly. We exchanged numbers, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward 10 years, and we’re married, have a dog, and co-own Brandon Kane Photography together.
Forest brings so much to BKP, not only as my partner in life but as an integral part of our business. He studied Corporate Event Management at Iowa State University, so he’s a pro at planning and organizing the flow of wedding days. His skills go beyond just handling a camera—Forest is a master of timelines and logistics, ensuring that every wedding we photograph runs smoothly. If I’m the creative, spontaneous one, Forest is the calm, collected force that keeps everything (including me!) on track. He’s also an excellent communicator and often helps with client correspondence, which is a lifesaver since I’m definitely not a Type A personality.

Together, the three of us—myself, Forest, and Hannah—make up the BKP team, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our history, our friendship, and our shared passion for photography and storytelling have shaped who we are as photographers today. We’re not just colleagues; we’re family.
